How We Started
Longan Vision was founded in 2018, emerging from research initiatives at McMaster University with a clear mission: to enhance situational awareness and safety for first responders operating in extreme, low-visibility environments.
The company’s early development was supported by Innovation Solutions Canada (ISC), a federal program designed to help Canadian innovators address real-world public-sector challenges. Through this program, Longan Vision took on the challenge of developing a head-up, hands-free vision system for firefighters, addressing critical operational gaps such as zero-visibility navigation, information overload, and responder safety in high-risk environments.
This foundation of academic research, government-backed innovation, and direct engagement with frontline users shaped the company’s core technology and philosophy—building practical, rugged, and mission-critical vision systems designed for real emergency operations.

What we do
Longan Vision develops the Fusion Vision System, a helmet-mounted thermal imaging platform that provides hands-free situational awareness. The system is designed as a modular platform, allowing organizations to evaluate configurations that meet their operational needs today while supporting future capabilities.
